Ready Mix Concrete

During the construction of the Blacksness Pier, Tulloch Developments purchased a state-of-the-art "Reimer R9" mobile batching plant. Since then, we have produced our own concrete, frequently investing in new and better equipment to enable us to offer the highest quality of service.

Our new 'volumetric' mixers are similar to site batching plants, except that they are mobile. This offers considerable advantages over more conventional ready mix vehicles. Volumetric mixers carry all the ingredients for concrete in different hoppers, and these materials are fed by the main drive belt to the mixing area. This allows us to mix up to 9 cubic metres of fresh concrete on site, to any mix design, with no waste. For larger jobs, the concrete can be brought to the site and loaded into the hoppers to allow continuous concrete supply.

The mix design can also be changed instantly, producing different types of concrete from the same load. This allows us to always provide a 'fresh mix', which improves workability. It also lets us offer multiple deliveries from a single load, reducing the time our vehicles are on the road, with obvious benefits to the environment.

Tulloch Developments is also the only contractor in Shetland to offer a concrete pumping service. With a 16m boom, our concrete pump is ideal for placing concrete in house founds, slabs or walls; we can pump concrete into confined spaces such as basements. The pump offers a very competitive option for your concrete placement needs.
